چکیده

This research examines how multiplex organizational networks coevolve. Evolutionary and network theories were used to develop hypotheses about tie formation in both uniplex and multiple networks in organizational communities. Based on data between 1997 and 2005 collected from the records of development projects in the field of Information and Communication Technology for Development, the study demonstrates that dynamics in one network are significant drivers of tie formation in the other network at both dyadic and triadic levels. In particular, results show that the effects of common thirdparty ties and structural embeddedness exist across multiplex networks, leading to the formation of dense local clusters of organizations. Further, the study explains endogenous and exogenous mechanisms that lead to the formation of multiplex ties. The results suggest that resource similarity of organizational dyads, resource width, and organizational centrality have positive effects on the propensity of multiplex tie formation. These results have implications for organizations’ networking strategies in a wide variety of developing as well as developed organizational communities.

Utilizes the Community Detection for Increase Trust using Multiplex Networks

Today, e-commerce has occupied a large volume of economic exchanges. It is known as one of the most effective business practices. Predicted trust which means trusting an anonymous user is important in online communities. In this paper, the trust was predicted by combining two methods of multiplex network and community detection. In modeling the network in terms of a multiplex network, the relat...

Multilink communities of multiplex networks

Multiplex networks describe a large number of complex social, biological and transportation networks where a set of nodes is connected by links of different nature and connotation. Here we uncover the rich community structure of multiplex networks by associating a community to each multilink where the multilinks characterize the connections existing between any two nodes of the multiplex networ...

Spectral Clustering Methods for Multiplex Networks

Multiplex networks offer an important tool for the study of complex systems and extending techniques originally designed for single–layer networks is an important area of study. One of the most important methods for analyzing networks is clustering the nodes into communities that represent common connectivity patterns. In this paper we extend spectral clustering to multiplex structures and disc...

Weighted Multiplex Networks

One of the most important challenges in network science is to quantify the information encoded in complex network structures. Disentangling randomness from organizational principles is even more demanding when networks have a multiplex nature. Multiplex networks are multilayer systems of [Formula: see text] nodes that can be linked in multiple interacting and co-evolving layers. In these networ...

Coevolution of Cooperation and Layer Selection Strategy in Multiplex Networks

Recently, the emergent dynamics in multiplex networks, composed of layers of multiple networks, has been discussed extensively in network sciences. However, little is still known about whether and how the evolution of strategy for selecting a layer to participate in can contribute to the emergence of cooperative behaviors in multiplex networks of social interactions. To investigate these issues...
